Movin’ on up!

I’m sure you’ve noticed a sudden decrease in blogging on my behalf and I’m sure plenty of you are heartbroken (or so I wish) about my recent absent behavior. Well for those few adoring fans (meaning my husband and two dogs) I have great news: you’re reading a new blog post as we speak and several more will soon follow.

You see, I’ve actually been pretty scrap busy lately. If you didn’t know already, my husband and I are planning to move to North Carolina the last week of July and since I haven’t quite moved all my belongings completely from my parents house since we got married in October I’ve been going back and forth, house to house, moving the rest of my things (which sounds a whole lot easier than it really is).

Both of my sisters are currently pregnant (and because my sister is currently in labor I should be an auntie by the end of the day) therefore what used to be my old room at my parents house has now turned into a miniature version of Babies R Us (no joke).

So what used to look like a cute, calm, and completely tidy Kat’s room, now looks like a tornado came through with bucket loads of baby supplies, from diapers to booties, which has made packing just a tad bit more difficult. I literally spent about six hours yesterday fumbling through baby clothes just to find the rest of my shoes.

Anywho to make a long story short spending the past few days at my parents house, despite the tornado in my room, has been the biggest scrapbooking blessing that has ever happened to me. Because money is tight and moving is gonna put a nice little dent in our savings account, which is already hanging on by a thread, my parents have been more than kind to practically give me half of the furniture in their house. Okay, I might be exaggerating a little bit, but honestly I’m getting a pretty good deal out of this whole situation.

As many of you know I currently live in the tiniest house known to mankind (I’m not even sure if it can be called a house), better known as a hybrid (a combination of an efficiency and an apartment). Big enough for the four of us (Lenny, Jack, Darci, and me), but too small to fit a decent sized scrap space. But (ding, ding, ding) the good news is we’ve hit the jackpot. Since we are moving to North Carolina to go to seminary we are lucky enough to be getting campus housing, which will cost us less than half the amount we would pay for an apartment in Miami and (drum roll please) our new home will have TWO bedrooms!

After years without a decent scrap space I will finally have an ENTIRE room devoted just for scrap purposes. (Okay, well not completely for scrap purposes. I will be sharing the room with my husband who needs it for what he considers “work”. Hmmph! But at least I will finally have a space of my very own!)

And finally this is the reason for my blogging delay: a combination of the fact that we’re moving, I’m beginning to pack, and I’m constantly brainstorming ideas for my new scrap space my brain is on complete overload mode! I literally spend almost every waking moment daydreaming about my future scrap room and what I can do to make it completely amazing.

I have already come up with my color scheme, which will be a combination of hot pink, black, and white (sophisticated chic with a sassy flair). Now I am just trying to renovate my parents gracious giveaways, which include a white bookshelf, a vintage desk that will be painted black, several cute little tables, chairs, shelving and frames which will all be altered to fit my dream scraproom. I have literally hit the scrap space jackpot.

Now it’s just a matter of getting it to North Carolina and making my scrap space dream a reality! Although I am overloaded with work I will definitely have to try and take pictures of every renovation I do, from chairs to tables, and hopefully share a few ideas with you by the end of the week. It might take time, because as I said I should be an auntie within the next three hours.

So until next time, happy scrapping!

Wohoooo! Gonna be a dream come true. I can’t wait til we get our own place and my dream room comes to life, too. Yay for scrapbook rooms.
