I made this frame as a gift for my boss, Michele. I am her son’s nanny and because she does so much for me I wanted to make sure that I gave her a very special Christmas gift. This frame took me less than an hour to make and I made it out of things I just happened to have scattered around my scrap space. I hope you enjoy looking at it as much as I enjoyed making it.

Polka-Dot-Pretty

November 11, 2009

A year ago I made these little chipboard frames that came with an orange and black Halloween wreath kit. Considering that Halloween is over and that I wanted to be able to use these little frames year round I switched them up and added some cute pink embellishment and voila! the finished product is this cute little Polka-Dot-Pretty. This project took me about 15 minutes to complete and it was super fun to make!

Hope it gives you some inspiration.

P.S. – This would make a cute & simple Christmas gift for someone special.

…i promise

...i promise

This is the actual demonstration that I worked on while at the October Connecting Point: Get Crafty!

Since I didn’t want to end up with two of the same exact layouts after my demonstration, I simply switched it up and did this layout horizontally, instead of diagonally like the first one. This is one of the two layouts that I gave to my hubby for our one year anniversary, which is why I chose to use pictures from our wedding.

This picture is of both his wedding band and his promise ring. Before I gave Lenny his promise ring I had something engraved inside, which reads “I will follow you.” I made this promise to him way before we were ever even engaged and I vowed to keep it until death do us part. I guess that’s why this layout means so much to me, because it’s a reminder of the promise I made to be a faithful, committed, and dutiful wife.

I love you Leonard. Nothing will ever keep us apart. I promise.

du Jour!

July 8, 2009

I created this frame for one of my best friends birthdays. Although I was tempted to make it in my fav colors, I was able to control myself and complete it in the colors of her wedding.

When searching for the perfect wording to place on the frame I came across this sticker: “du Jour”. I knew the words waere obviously French, but I didn’t know what they meant so I called my husband and asked him to look it up for me and this is what he came up with: “made for a particular day”.

Although it doesn’t have any profound meaning this gift was indeed made for a particular day (Steph’s birthday) and it focuses on a very special day in her life (her wedding day). So I think it fits just fine, plus it looks really pretty, which is the real reason I ended up using it as the main focus.

I hope you like it Mrs. Saavedra and HAPPY BIRTHDAY from your friends in Miami!

du Jour! Detailed Close-Ups:

du Jour! Detail 1

du Jour! Detail 2

Materials: wooden frame (Michael’s); patterned paper (K&Company); floral embellishment (Prima Marketing Inc.); sticker letters (American Crafts); swirl stamp (Autumn Leaves); butterfly stamps (K&Company); brad (Making Memories); ink (Jo-Ann Craft Essentials); paint (Apple Barrel); ribbon (Basic Basic);

My husband says that this is his favorite frame that I have made thus far, but I get the feeling that his judgements are biased (considering that he’s totally in love with me and all). So you be the judge…what do you think?

Summer Line: Sassy Scraps

June 3, 2009

My first Etsy product has been created and will be the first of many to fit one of my summer project lines that I playfully named: “Sassy Scraps”. The theme of this line is sophisticated chic, with a sassy frilly flair. To achieve this look all my projects will be done in the colors black, pink, and white.

These gifts will be the most sophisticated and time-consuming one-of-a-kind gifts that I have ever created. They are also my favorite pieces of work because they contain my current favorite colors. Ever since I created that mother’s day frame for my mother-in-law I have been completely obsessed with the color combo. (So obsessed that I am designing my whole scrap space and summer project line after the three colors!) This Sassy Scraps project is an altered frame and is only one of many to come.

I hope you enjoy the new look and consider making it a gift for yourself!

“B” is for Bella

May 8, 2009

I am very pleased to say that I am going to be an auntie in less than a month! My sister Cristine is expecting her first child, a beautiful baby girl who will be named Bella, on June 4th. Upon her arrival Bella will be blessed with an adorable pink bedroom jam-packed with tons of cute clothes, toys, accessories, and more. (She is  not even out of the womb yet and she is already being spoiled!) But considering that she will be my first niece, I am more than willing to applaud and support spoiling of any kind. (I’m a sucker for babies.)

To match the decor of Bella’s bedroom I decorated letters that spell out her name in pink and brown.  Bella’s room is complete, now all we are missing is our little bundle of joy. Bella, we cannot wait to see you, watch you grow and fall in love with you.  We love you very much!

BELL A

Materials: patterned and solid colored paper (Colorbok); paper embellishments (Colorbok); floral embellishments (Jo-Anne Fabrics); stamps and paint (Memory Makers); ribbon (Basic Basic)

The letters I decorated for her will be going right above her crib, shown below. Bella's Room

She is going to be one spoiled ittie bitte one. Below is a picture of only one part of her room.
